Research on Relations between Sexual Propagation of Salix psammophila and Key Environmental Factors

Abstract  Seed germination of Salix psammophila are affected by many factors. Results show that the seeds of Salix psammophila can not germinate when soil moisture is below 2%; the seed germination and seedlings stem growth are significantly restrained by PEG stress and NaCl stress; the optimal sand burial depth of the seeds of Salix psammophila is 1.0—4.0 mm and the seeds of Salix psammophila can not germinate when the sand burial depth is more than 7 mm; the most suitable temperature for seed germination is 25 ℃, and the germination rate reduces seriously when the temperature is higher than 40 ℃ or lower than 10 ℃; the seeds of Salix psammophila can germinate still when the temperature is lower than 5 ℃, but the seedlings don’t grow.
