Abstract: Tetraena mongolica is a rare and endangered plants which is only found in Western Ordos Plateau of Inner Mongolia. The study used the method of indoor simulation experiments to discuss the influence of soil water content (5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%), sand burial depth (0, 0.5, 1, 2, 3 cm) and their interaction on the seed germination and seedling emergence of T. mongolica. It will provide a scientific basis on breeding and protection for T. mongolica. The results showed that:The best optional soil water content for T. mongolica seeds germination was 20% at which the germination rate is up to 81.33%. T. mongolica seed is suitable for shallow sand burial depth under 0.5 cm, and the best optional seed covered sand burial depth was 0.5 cm at which the seed emergence rate surpassed 73.33%.When the seed covered sand burial depth was more than 2 cm, the seeding emergence did not occur. Soil water content and sand buried depth both had significant influence on the emergence rate of the T. mongolica (P<0.05).When the soil water content was 20%,and the seed covered sand depth was 0.5 cm,the seed emergence rate of T. mongolica was the maximum.

Key words: Tetraena mongolica, sand burial, soil water content, seed germination
