Abstract: In order to take full advantage of multispectrum data, ground information is absolutely necessary, and it is important to build a representative spectral library. The writers have primarily built the spectral library of surface features by field survey to Mengjin reservoir and vicinities,Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and have analyzed the observations of spectral reflective properties of surface features and the NDVI(Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) gained from TM images. The results showed that the spectral properties of water area, pasture and cement road were different,by which each surface feature can be distinguished through wave band combination.

Key words: remote sensing, ground reflected spectrum, TM images, Mengjin reservoir and vicinities
