Abstract:

The Gonghe Basin, located on the northeastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, is an ecologically fragile region with important vegetation carbon sequestration functions. Using the CASA model, a spatiotemporal zoning framework, and geodetector analysis, this study examined vegetation carbon fixation and its drivers from 2010 to 2022. Results showed an overall increase in carbon fixation, with mean values ranging from 65.60 to 104.89 g·m⁻²·a⁻¹. High-value areas were mainly located in the eastern and southeastern basin, while low-value areas occurred in the northwest and basin margins. Significant temporal changes covered about 19% of the basin, and slightly increased areas accounted for 51.53%. Carbon fixation was classified into five functional zones, among which the stable maintenance zone was the largest, covering about 10 555.62 km². Geodetector analysis results indicated that precipitation and elevation were the dominant drivers, while photovoltaic distribution showed stronger effects in the degradation risk zones. All two-factor interactions showed enhanced effects, especially hydrothermal-topographic coupling and photovoltaic-natural factor interactions. These findings support coordinated renewable energy development, desertification control, and carbon sink enhancement in arid and semi-arid regions.
