Abstract: Excessive reclamation in potential desertified region often causes a great deal of damages but rational reclamation deserves recommendation. In 1968, an experiment of reclamation started on Mug shoaly land situated in Guinan grassland. Up to now it has been achieved significant results both in protection of ecological emvironment and economic development, as result of single horse-raising being replaced by combination of farming and animal husbandry. In order to reclaim grassland reasonably the following points should be taken into consideration : 1. Grassland reclamation must be done in a selective way, first priority is given to the flat, silt or light loam-textured land with a thickness of more than 2.5m. 2. It is necessary to keep original landforms intact and let 2m topsoil keep uniform and stable. 3. The rotation system of grass and crop and "two-year cultivations and one-year fallow" system are recommended to improve soil physical and chemical properties and to enhance soil fertility. 4. Rational tillages are requred to cut down the soil preparatim time as short as posibie. Especially in spring, roll it while ploughing and sowing. 5. In winter, using crop stubble covers on soil surface to reduce wind.
