Abstract: The desertified lands in Qinghai Province are divided into 4 regions and 10 sub regions based on the principle and basis of regionalization:(1) The desert region of Qaidam basin includes 5 sub regions of Lenghu wind erosional region, Golmud sand shifting region, Dulan sand shifting region, Delingha Gobi region and Wulan sand fixed region; (2) The semi desert region of Gonghe basin consists of Gonghe and Guinan sand shifting sub regions; (3) The Qinghai Lake arounding area is only divided into one sub region; (4) The alpine cold region in south Qinghai has two sub regions which are wind erosional regions both in Kekexili and in the upper Yellow river reaches terrace area. Against the status and characters of desertified lands in each sub region, the rational developing directions and controlling approaches have been suggested.
