Abstract: Shiyanghe River valley is situated at the east edge of Hexi Corridor, Gansu Province and the total land area is about 41,000km². For the purpose for developing and reconstructing the areas in the Corridor, the water and soil resources in the area have been investigated and studied from 1980-1981. From the viewpoints of the transformation of the nature and the utilization in production, the formative conditions, distributive Principles and the main properties of soil are described, and some evidences for utilizing and developing rationally the land resources, for keeping abreast of the phy-sicochemical properties of soil, for having a good command of productive potentialities of land and for making the River Valley into a productive base, are discussed and proved in the study.
