Abstract: Planting is dominant in the east of ecotone between agriculture and animal husbandry in Northern China.Land use changes have profound influences on the sustainable development of agriculture.Village Yaoledianzi lies in the agri-grazing-ecotone and inclines to agriculture.There has happened great changes during the past 50 years in its land uses and the course of changes can be divided into two phases by 1980s.This paper emphasizes the changes of farmlands and desertification lands.Before 1980s the area of tilth and desertification lands increased,that of meadow decreased,there was no woodland,and all of the tilthes were drylands.After 1980s the area of desertification lands decreased,that of meadow and woodland increased,and irrigated lands became the large proportion in tilth.And the paper discusses the causes of land use change from national policy,property right of land,population,livestock and system structure.
