Effects of Storage Temperature, NaCl and PEG Osmotic Treatment on Seed Germination of Caragana Intermedia

Abstract  Storage temperature variation and salt and PEG treatments were used to assess the effects of drought and salt stress on the germination and growth rate of Caragana intermedia. Seeds were treated with 15-35 ℃(room temperature),4-5 ℃ (refreshment) and -10— -4 ℃(freezing). NaCl and PEG were added for simulation of salt stress and drought stress. Seed germination rate and growth were measured. Analyses showed that no matter in salt stress or drought stress, germination rate of C. intermedia was higher in the refreshment condition than that in room and freezing conditions. The maximum germination rate in the salt stress was 90% and 87% in the drought stress.
