Change and Status of Desertification Land in Minqin, Gansu, China

Abstract  On the basis of RS, GIS and the fourth desertification monitoring in Gansu province, this study was to monitor the spatial distribution condition and distribution characteristics of desertification land in Minqin, Gansu, China by multiple factor quantification evaluation. The dynamic change of desertification degree and type were analyzed by the method of comparison analysis. The result showed that the total area of land desertification was 1 220 451.4 hm2. From the type of desertification land, the areas of wind-eroded desertification land and salinized desertification land were 1 319 134.3 hm2 and 126 074.0 hm2, respectively. The development of land desertification reversed, in which the area of slight desertification land was increased small, the area of moderate and serious desertification land enlarged rapidly, and the area of extremely serious desertification land decreased sharply. The prospect of researches in this field lies in predicting the trend of desertification development and analyzing the reason of desertification in Minqin, in order to provide scientific bases for ecological construction and restoration.
