Abstract: Hexi corridor is an important commodity gra in base and also a major economic developing region. But in recent years economy developing, population increasing, resources exploiting, urbanization process speeding up have resulted in the common hazard of environmental pollution in th is area becoming serious day by day. As the result of ecological destruction, forest area reduced by 16.5%. Desertificaion problem is becoming sharpening. It has not only influenced the development of commodity grain base construction and regional economy, but also directly influenced the economic development strategy of our country shifting to the west. The paper investigated and analyzed the desertification situation and has proposed some countermeasures on economic development, desertification control, rational use of water and land resources, implementing sustainable development and so on.
