| Influence of Photosynthesis on Soil Respiration Rates for Populus euphratica in Different Light Conditions in Arid Environments |

Abstract Based on observation data of soil water, temperature, plants growing vigor, and soil respiration rates of Populus euphratica community at Kardayi and Alagan sections in lower reaches of the Tarim River under different overshadow treatments, we analyzed influence of growing vigor of Populus euphratica forest on soil respiration rate and influence of photosynthesis on soil respiration rate. Results showed that there were several peak values in daily change of soil respiration rates of Populus euphratica community, and the peak values mainly appeared during 12:00—16:00; the valley values appeared at 08:00 or 20:00. The growing vigor of Populus euphratica forest influences the soil respiration rate to a great degree. The relationship between soil respiration rates of Populus euphratica community and soil water content and temperature was not significant, but was directly controlled by amount of assimilation product.
