Effects of Sand-burying on Seed Germination and Seedling Emergence of Six Psammophytes Species

Abstract  This paper studied the effect of sand-burying on the seed germination and seedling emergence of six psammophyte plants wildly spreading in the Tengger Desert. Nine treatments of artificially sand-burying at depths of 0, 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12 cm were designed. The results indicated that ①seeds at 0 cm depth had lower germination; ②sand-burying had significant effect for all seeds(p<0.05), with the increase of depth, the seedling emergence decreased; ③the depth at which the seed emerge were positively correlated with the weight of seeds.
