Abstract:

To investigate the distribution characteristics and driving factors of Tenebrionidae communities along the margin of Badain Jaran Desert, we conducted field surveys in July 2023, May 2024, and July 2024 using active collection methods including beat-sheet sampling, sieving, and manual gathering. Geographic statistical analysis software and the Kriging spatial interpolation method were utilized to examine the distribution patterns of Tenebrionidae communities and analyze the driving factors behind these patterns. The results showed that: A total of 15 664 adult Tenebrionidae specimens belonging to 70 species across 17 genera were collected. Significant differences in community composition were observed between desert and gobi habitats. Tenebrionidae communities in gobi habitats exhibited the highest biodiversity, while those in desert environments showed the lowest. Distinct gradient differences in Tenebrionidae community distribution patterns across the desert margin, with relatively simple distribution patterns in northern regions. Temperature as the primary driving factor influencing Tenebrionidae community distribution patterns at the desert edge.

Key words: Badain Jaran Desert margin, Tenebrionidae, diversity, spatial distribution pattern, driving factors
