Abstract: In August 2007, a PSYPRO water potential guage was used to measure the leaf water potential of Common Beancaper (Zygophyllom xanthoxylum (Bunge) Maxim) in pot at the experimental base of Qinghai Forestry Science Institute. Meantime, the soil water potential and the atmospheric water potential were measured. The diurnal variation of leaf water potential under different salt stress and the related factors were analyzed. The results showed that Common Beancaper can survive in the soil with salt concentration of 1.5% under adequate soil water supply. The leaf water potential of Common Beancaper under no salt stress was bigger than that under salt stress of 0.5%, and that under 0.5% was bigger than that under 1.5%. The correlation between leaf water potential and soil water potential falls into the order: that under no stress>under 0.5% stress>under 1.5% stress; the correlation between leaf water potential and atmospheric water potential: that under 0.5% stress>under no stresss>under 1.5% stress.

Key words: common beancaper, leaf water potential, salt stress, metrological factorsMeta
