Abstract:

Filamentous cyanobacteria, as pioneer colonizers in desert areas, play an important role in the biogeochemical cycle and ecological restoration of arid and semi-arid areas. In this paper, sixty-seven filamentous cyanobacteria were isolated from the cyanobacterial crusts in three different bioclimatic regions. The results showed that sixty-seven filamentous cyanobacteria belonged to Oscillatorles, Siaynechococcales and Nostocale. The community compositions of cyanobacteria in the three bioclimatic regions were different. Microcoleus vaginatus was a common cyanobacterium in three different bioclimatic regions. There was no common cyanobacterium in Maqu and Minqin except Microcoleus vaginatus. Microcoleus and Oscillatoria were common cyanobacterial genera in Minqin and Yanchi. Only members of Nodosilinea were found in Maqu and Yanchi. Among the cyanobacterial crusts in three bioclimatic regions, Calothrix desertica was isolated only from Maqu, not from the other two regions.
