“7.17”西北夏季沙尘暴数值模拟

Numerical Simulation of “7.17” Sand-dust Storm in Northwest China

摘要: 对2005年7月17日发生在西北地区近20 a来夏季最强的沙尘暴过程进行了数值模拟研究,结果得到:①沙尘暴发生前,沙源处于高温控制下;②起沙是水平低涡和垂直涡叠加而成的一种类似于Benard对流泡的系统扫掠沙源的结果;③起沙主要发生在水平低涡移动方向的右部。

Abstract: A sand-dust storm which occurred over northwest China on Jul 17, 2005 was known as the severest one in summer of the recent 20 years. It was simulated by dust model-GRAPES_SDM with purpose of finding out its potential starting mechanism. The results show that ①the dust source area was dominated by high temperature before the sand-dust storm occurrence; ②dust emission was resulted from the sediments being swept by the superposed flow of horizontal low vortex and vertical vortex which coupled into a cell resembling to well-known Benard convective cell; ③dust emission mainly occurred at the right of the moving orientations of the horizontal low vortex.
