Abstract: Analysis on oasis agriculture and rural economic development showed that the barriers limiting the sustainable agriculture in Hexi Corridor are as follows: natural environment and resource barrier, population resource quality barrier, technique barrier, concept barrier, organization pattern barrier and market barrier. The only method to break out these barriers and promote sustainable development of rural economy in Hexi Corridor includes: ①technique innovation such as developing water-saving sunlight-type agricultural system; ②management innovation such as adjusting agricultural industry structure and developing oasis characterized agriculture; ③organization system innovation such as developing agricultural industry; ④market innovation such as making rapid progress in town township enterprises, changing rural area into towns and opening up rural market.
