Relationship between Haloxylon ammodendron Seedling Dynamics and Habitat before Summer

Abstract  

This paper studied dynamics of Haloxylon ammodendron (and Haloxylon pespicum) seedlings before summer on background of climate change in the southern edge of Zhunger Basin by qualitative and quantitative ways. Taking snow melted water as source to sprout the number of Haloxylon ammodendron seedlings is determined by surface soil moisture in early Spring. Whether the seedlings are survival or not are due to the temperature level and its changing amplitude in the week of Qingming Festival. Besides, the seedlings survival is limited by surface soil water with 0—5 cm depth during period from cotyledon to three couples. To some extent, microterrain, cover on soil could protect Haloxylon ammodendron seedling at this time, which may be the effect of mitigating influence of climate on habitat so that more water could be used by the seedling.
