Comprehensive measurement and influencing factors of agricultural green development efficiency in Gansu section of the Yellow River Basin

Abstract:

Against the backdrop of global climate change and resource constraints, promoting green agricultural development has become a crucial pathway to ensure food and ecological security. This task is particularly urgent for the Yellow River Basin, an area characterized by ecological fragility and water scarcity. This study takes 57 county-level administrative regions in the Gansu section of the Yellow River Basin as the research object. Based on panel data from 2005 to 2024, and employing the Super-SBM model, spatial econometric analysis, kernel density estimation, and an optimal-parameter-based geographical detector model, this paper systematically analyzes the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of agricultural green development efficiency and further explores its influencing factors. The results show that: (1) In terms of spatiotemporal evolution, the agricultural green development efficiency in the study area generally shows an upward trend with significant regional differences. High-efficiency values are mainly concentrated in the central and eastern parts of the study area, while low-efficiency values are concentrated in the western and northwestern regions. (2) Regarding the spatial pattern, agricultural green development efficiency exhibits a significant positive spatial correlation, demonstrating an obvious agglomeration trend. After 2015, sub-hotspot and hotspot areas became dominant in the region, sub-coldspot areas shrank considerably, and internal regional differences gradually converged. (3) Concerning the influencing factors, the per capita disposable income of farmers is the primary factor affecting agricultural green development efficiency. Furthermore, the interaction between any two factors shows either a bifactor enhancement or a nonlinear enhancement relationship, with a notably significant synergistic enhancement effect observed between economic and social factors. This study can provide theoretical support and a decision-making basis for promoting high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin.
