Abstract:

This paper focuses on the nine provinces along the Yellow River Basin as the research area to construct a six-dimensional evaluation system for the high-quality development of the tourism industry. The dimensions include tourism economy, technological innovation, product supply, public services, industry talents, and ecological environment. The research employs entropy weight, weighted TOPSIS, and coupling coordination models to evaluate the subsystem weights, comprehensive development, and coupling coordination. The results indicate that the subsystem weights are ranked as follows: technological innovation > tourism economy > industry talents > ecological environment > public services > product supply. In addition, the tourism innovation output, tourism economy scale, tourism talent scale, ecological environment governance, public information services, and tourism resource abundance have relatively high weights in the six subsystems. The spatial pattern of tourism economic development and product supply in the Yellow River Basin is similar, as is the spatial pattern of tourism technological innovation and industry talents. However, there are significant differences in the tourism ecological environment compared to other subsystems. The spatial distribution of tourism ecological environment in the Yellow River Basin is high in the west and low in the east, and high in the north and low in the south. Except for Sichuan Province, the overall level of high-quality development of the tourism industry in the Yellow River Basin shows differences in the river section. The downstream provinces are of a higher level, followed by the middle and lower reaches, while the upstream provinces are mostly low-level types. Furthermore, the main factors that constrain the high-quality development of the tourism industry in the provinces along the Yellow River Basin are ecological environment, technological innovation, and tourism economy.

Key words: high-quality development, tourism industry, systematic evaluation, TOPSIS, Yellow River Basin
